History swirls around each corner of Mineral de Pozos—”Pozos” to those in the know—a remarkable town tucked in the mountains some 7,500 feet above sea level, just 25 miles from San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato. Once an opulent mining city, Pozos has survived booms and busts, and is now a Historical National Monument, with all the accompanying
haciendas, historical ruins, colonial buildings and underground mine tunnels. Beloved of artists and ex-pats, it is experiencing a reawakening that can be fully experienced with a stay at the lovely Posada de las Minas.
