WHAT IS MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTELS AND HOW DO HOTELS BECOME MEMBERS?    

 

Established in 1999, Mexico Boutique Hotels is a collection of 46 upscale, independent member properties carefully handpicked for their intimacy, high level of service and outstanding attributes. Some are housed in exquisitely restored architectural gems, others are paeans to Mexican cuisine, still others showcase the sleekly modern—but they each encourage guests to savor the many fascinating traditions of this vast country and all offer guests a unique travel experience. Typically less than 30 rooms in size, all must qualify to be a member of this group and they are often destinations unto themselves. We are based in Puerto Vallarta and staffed by an experienced team of travel and hospitality professionals who both live and work in Mexico. 

 

ARE RATES THE SAME IF I COMPARE THE MBH WEBSITE AND THE HOTEL’S OWN WEB ADDRESS?

 

Yes! Rates should be the same whether you search on our website or the hotel’s individual website—or any other site. Having said that, if for any reason there is a discrepancy, please let us know right away and we will honor the best rate. We consider ourselves an extension of our hotels, not their competition. It’s all about teamwork.

SO WHY SHOULD I BOOK THROUGH MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTELS INSTEAD OF THE HOTEL DIRECTLY? 

Let us count the ways! Our website is in English and often it’s much more thorough than the individual hotels’ websites. We also offer a panorama of lodging possibilities throughout Mexico and allow you to search availability at several properties simultaneously. Not only that, but we also offer a unique pre-arrival concierge service (see the ‘kudos to our concierge’ page) that helps you plan your trip from A to Z. In other words, we can help you pack, plan, prepare and coordinate everything you need ahead of time so you can focus on your vacation. And if that isn’t enough, we check back with you afterwards to ask if you enjoyed your stay and if there was anything we could have done to make it better. Call us a dedicated “one-stop-shop”.

WHAT HOTEL INFORMATION CAN I OBTAIN ON YOUR SITE? 

Each member hotel has its own page, but you can see an overview of all of them by clicking here. Individual hotel pages include images of the property, a great description written by staff who have actually stayed there, a list of amenities, details on wining and dining (and family travel where applicable), directions and local information as well as past guest comments and recent media coverage. The rates and policies tab will take you to the room descriptions, rate information, special package info and details on policies and transportation.

DO YOUR HOTELS HAVE DIFFERENT RATINGS?

We have adopted a system of key words rather than the usual ratings system. This way, rather than a bunch of silent stars you have a handful of descriptive terms that can help you select the vacation experience and the mood you’re seeking. Click here for an explanation of our unique glossary.

CAN CHILDREN STAY AT A MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTEL?  

While several of our properties are adults-only, children are certainly welcome at our family-friendly members. Each hotel has its policy on its homepage. For a list of our kid-friendly properties, please click here.

ARE YOUR PROPERTIES PET-FRIENDLY? 

Fido and Natasha are welcome at a select few of our properties. Please let us know if you plan on bringing a furry friend and we can provide you with a list of pet-friendly properties. 

 

WHAT OTHER INFORMATION DO YOU PROVIDE? 

Lots! We’ve done our homework so you don’t have to: we’ll give you detailed information on destinations throughout the country and even recommend circuit tours for travelers who are interested in discovering more than one city during their trip.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I CONTACT YOU? 

Our vacation designers are available to take your calls (or even chat online!) from Monday to Friday (8am – 7pm CST) and Saturday (9am – 2pm CST). You can also send us an email at any time and we promise to get back to you within 24 hours.

 

IS IT BETTER TO BOOK ONLINE OR BY PHONE? 

Basically it depends on your preference: either way is safe, efficient and easy. Booking online gives you the luxury of time (you can click “reserve” whenever you want!), while via telephone we can provide you with a more personalized experience and answer any questions you might have right away.

 

HOW DO I KNOW MY RESERVATION IS CONFIRMED?

Whether you book by phone or online, you will receive an email confirmation for your booking. We’ll use this same email to contact you for our pre-arrival concierge services one week prior to your arrival.

WHAT IF I DON’T GET AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION?

Some servers have very high security measures and might have classified our confirmation as “spam” or there might have been a misspelling in the address itself. We invite you to please contact us by email or phone if you haven’t received a confirmation email within 24 hours and we will happily reconfirm your reservation and email confirmation letter one more time.
