As a foreigner living and working in Mexico for over 13 years, it’s been my privilege to travel throughout the country, meet some of the most hospitable people in the world, savor the food and learn the language. These years have also granted me an invaluable bicultural perspective: I know and understand the local culture while maintaining an outsider’s viewpoint when it comes to evaluating lodging and travel experiences.

I’ve visited quaint villages, breathtaking coastlines, historical towns and fascinating cities, and discovered hotels that truly offer a sense of place and embody the creative spirit and warmth of this country. In other words: I discovered Mexico Boutique Hotels. And while other collections have included boutique hotels in their portfolios, none have dedicated themselves exclusively to Mexico. We have.

Our destinations run the gamut, from the coastline to colonial towns to everywhere in between. Some hotels are charming, rustic hideaways; others are sleek and modern; still others are lavish resorts. But they are all intimate, willing to go that extra mile, detail-oriented and honestly concerned with each traveler’s experience. Each one has also undergone a comprehensive qualification process to ensure the integrity of its membership and is constantly reviewed by every one of our clients. This is a membership that can’t be bought, only earned.

Mexico is a land of great natural and man-made beauty, with a culture rooted in tradition, yet still contemporary, always changing.

Allow us to help you discover the best it has to offer.

Sylvie

Short Bio:

With her uncanny eye for detail, her whirlwind energy and her international flair, Sylvie Laitre has propelled Mexico Boutique Hotels into becoming a force majeure in the travel industry. She began her journey in 1994, when she graduated from the University of Ottawa with bilingual degrees (French and English) in Communications and Leisure Studies, with (of course) a specialty in Tourism Development. Soon after, she moved to Mexico to learn Spanish—and fell in love with the country. Along the way she worked in several service positions in local hotels until 2002, when she was invited to join Mexico Boutique Hotels.

“I think I found my calling when Mexico Boutique Hotels found me. Everything about this company appeals to me: the innovation, the attention to detail, the quality of the services it provides and the authenticity of its message. And this is exactly what they require from their members. My job? To seek like-minded hotels and bring them to the traveler’s attention. In the process, I promote this fabulous country and its many, many wonders. What could be better than that?”
From lavish hotels to the corner stand for taquitos al pastor, Sylvie is the go-to person for tips on the best of Mexico. And fortunately for all of us, all of her expertise goes right back into MBH.
